Diwali or Deepavali a Hindu festival of lights, held in the period October to November. It is particularly associated with Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity, and marks the beginning of the fiscal year in India.
One of the challenges with this event was being able to translate deeply culturally rooted subject matter into a design that appealed to college students.
At the time, the emergence and popularity of EDM or electronic dance music started becoming more prevalent on the grounds of Cal State LA.
I ultimately designed this event around that idea while keeping in mind Diwali's historical origins.
